This is just one recommended route of the trails in the southeast portion of Mueller State Park. There are four main trails - School Pond (Trail 2), Ranger Ridge (Trail 3), Stoner Mill (Trail 23) and Aspen (Trail 21). The route here is School Pond to Ranger Ridge to Preacher's Hollow to School Pond to Ranger Ridge to Stoner Mill to School Pond to Aspen (clockwise) to School Pond back to the trailhead. Lots of good downhills on this route along with tough uphills and multiple short hike-a-bike sections. The forest and mountains are beautiful. The trails are rarely technical. The technical sections are mainly just some extremely steep downhill sections on scree. If you want to add a little more mileage you can add a loop (ridden clockwise) using Preacher's Hollow and the very upper portion of Rock Pond Trail. Preacher's Hollow starts from the School Pond Trailhead also. This little loop adds 2.7 miles (including the road section back to the trailhead) and has a really nice downhill with some hike-a-bike to get up to Rock Pond Trail.
Nice route through the southeast portion of Mueller State Park. Some good downhills and extended climbs along with some steep hike-a-bike sections.
