Interstate 80 from Auburn east. Exit at Clipper Gap and go over the freeway on Placer Hills Rd. Go Approx. 1.5 miles to Sugar Pine rd and turn left. Park in the field on the right just after turning on to Sugar Pine. Trail head is just across the street at the right side of the canal. Trail parallels the canal for 4.5 miles and crosses Crother road at the halfway point then continues until you meet a second road, Crother, where you turn around and head back.
