			Mountain Biking Old Coach Road

#33 of 170 mountain bike trails in North Island

The Ohakune Old Coach Road originally linked the North Island main trunk railway from the north to the south. On the track, riders will see steel viaducts, curved tunnel, railway bridge remains, old camp sites, and a cobbled road built in 1906. There are information displays along the way from DOC.

Leave Ohakune town on Tohunga Road. Turn off onto Old Station Road. Ride in till you see Marshalls Road. This road is the trail head.

Lovely tail, a real mixture of single track and some open sights to see. Easy grade 2-3 with a couple of reasonable climbs. Slippery in the wet with a lot of cobblestones in one part of the ride. Worth visiting the rail bridge and Smash palace.
