I will be in Albuquerque the first week of February, if anyone can recommend great trails or wants to ride. I am from Colorado and would be happy to return the favor if you’re up here sometime. Open to any level of trail, just want to ride great trails in a new area. Thanks!

I hope some of this is helpful for you.

Go West on Spain Road off Tramway Blvd. till it ends at a T intersection. Turn right, go about 100 ft. and the TH parking is on your left. Wonderful trails right out of the parking area. I’m told the more difficult trails are accessed by driving down Tramway toward I-40, and then West to the TH’s on either Menaul or Copper. The bike shop I used was Northeast Cyclery at 8305 Menaul NE. These guys there were friendly and very helpful, had trail maps, etc.

If you like New Mexican cuisine the restaurant at the base of the Tramway lift is better than the one on the summit, in my opinion. For hotter spices, Sadies was good but it’s farther away from your Sandia riding trails.

What are the dates you will be here? I could show you around if it is a Saturday or Sunday.

For the most part the trails that are open this time of year are the foothills and White Mesa. I am a little fond of the foothills since I live about a half mile form them and White Mesa is about a 40minute drive.

Below is a link to a map of all the trailheads for the foothills. The South Foothills are a little more ‘all mountain’ than the North Foothills depending on the trails you take.

Sorry, I sent you the wrong direction off Tramway. For the TH’s I mentioned, go East (uphill toward Sandia Mtn) on Spain, Menaul or the other roads from Tramway.

I arrive on Sunday and leave Thursday. Can ride Sunday before the game or any of the weekdays. Not sure how to give my contact info on this site?

I may be there at the same time for work. If I am, I’ll check with you guys to see when you’re riding.

No problem. We are planning on riding Sunday afternoon before the Superbowl so if you are in town shoot me a PM and I will give you my contact info.

Skibum, you are always welcome! So much good advice over the last year!
