Downhilling in France; Women’s clinic in Australia

posted March 5, 2008 by trek7k

The morzinemtb blog has a good post outlining the basics of downhill mountain biking and clicking through the site it seems to be a great resource. There are some gnarly shots of the downhill scene in Morzine (that’s in France if you hadn’t heard) which was surprising to me since my only impressions of French cycling have come from the Tour de asphalt and Les Triplettes de Belleville. Anyway, if you’re lucky enough to make it to the French Alps and you’re looking for a place to ride it looks like these folks can hook you up.

In the southern hemisphere the New England Mountain Bikers group in New South Wales, Australia is working to get more women involved in the sport and held their first women’s skill clinic this past weekend. From the sounds of the article the trainers were mostly men which kinda seems to go against the idea of a women’s skills clinic but hopefully the 16 ladies who attended will be able to lead the next clinic. Cool fact: Australia has a New England just like the US. I wonder if they like to eat clam chowder there too?
