Sensus Grips Finally Available After Years of Design

sensus-bike-grips

After years of design and searching for the right manufacturing partner, Cam Zink and crew finally got the Sensus Grips in stock last week. That’s a ton of R&D and attention to detail for something as simple as bike grips so we’re pretty stoked to see how they perform (the endorsement from Zink himself goes a long way, see video below).

The grips are made from a “super soft compound” and the swirly, fine ridge pattern looks like the underside of a mushroom cap – you know that’s gotta feel good on the digits. It’s hard to believe but these things are even made in the USA which is rare for bike stuff these days. Choose from black or white grips, $10.99 for a pair (end plugs not included).

  1. These look like “swervy” versions of the old skool ODI “Mushroom” grips from my BMX days! That’s not a bad thing, those things were awesome!! I was actually just reminescing with the wrench at my LBS about those last week.

  2. Yeah, they sure do look look like “swervy” versions of the old school ODI “Mushroom” grips from my BMX days as well. Cool! I look forward to being able to use a pair of these for my FR rig, or even my sons. I hope they come in other colors as well.

  3. I was going to say the same thing on the colors….thinking a few variations of three color tie die would be sweet. Speaking of BMX…remember the late 80′s colors that were piloted by awesome companies such as Hutch? Neon Metallic Blue, Powder Pink, and Candy Apple Red…those tints were AWESOME!! Nothing says “I’m a bad@$$” like rollin up to ride with a tricked out pink bike!

  4. The last really ‘adventurous’ color schemes I’ve seen in the mountain bike realm was maybe Klein…especially the old Mantra models. I like my “Starry Night” paint on my Trek…but since it’s black with just metallic flecks of red, blue, silver – it has to have a serious polish and then catch the sunlight just right.

I’m all about function, but it’s about time for a little revolution of color in bikes and components again!

  5. I totally agree with you with the revolution in color EZ. I am working on a color scheme with my FR/DH rig, just like back in the days. I was going to leave it in its polished chrome state, but I really got thinking of vamping it up with a revolution of color. Yeah, they really need to vamp up on these colors now-a-days. They are so drab!

Hutch? Who is that! Just kidding! I could I ever forget them awesome companies. I wonder if any of them are still around?!? I had some really tricked out rides when BMX’ing, and my Redline and Diamondback were my best yet.

  6. Redline is definitely coming back, I love my d660 MTB 29er.

Unreal has a smooth pink frame you guys might appreciate (they call it red but I assure you it looks bright pink in real life). I also got my very own Simple Strap this week in hot pink to match the pink water bottle cage I used to have a few years back. Real men rock pink on the trail AND the street :)
