NEWBURY PARK, Calif. (Aug. 9, 2018) – Liv Cycling, the company dedicated to getting more women on bikes, today introduced its new Intrigue Advanced all-mountain trail bike. Featuring an advanced composite frame, aggressive trail geometry and capable 140/150mm travel, the new Intrigue Advanced offers both climbing agility with downhill command suitable for all types of terrain.
“The Intrigue Advanced rounds out Liv’s premium off-road lineup as it falls between the Hail, our long travel enduro bike, and the Pique, which offers an efficient cross-country style ride,” said Ludi Scholz, Liv global bicycle category manager. “The Intrigue Advanced is an all-mountain trail bike that is playful, fun and responsive. It is both fast on flowy single-track, and incredibly capable on more technical terrain.”
The Intrigue Advanced series was built using Liv’s 3F Design Philosophy, which includes thousands of data points about women’s anatomy, sizing variations, and muscle energy and outputs. As with all Liv bikes, this data was used to engineer the frame and complete bike to build the series from the ground up for women. Prototypes of the bike were fine-tuned with feedback from Liv global athletes including pro enduro rider Rae Morrison.
“Before riding my Liv Hail, I didn’t really have a good opinion on women’s-specific bikes. I was always in between sizes on other brands. Liv bikes are designed for women’s bodies and it results in a top performing, comfortable and responsive ride,” said Morrison. “The new Intrigue Advanced is an amazing all-mountain trail bike. When I tested it at Sea Otter this spring, I loved its performance, fit and handling. I knew this bike would be perfect for the mix of terrain at the race.”
To further dial the complete ride for women, Liv’s product team worked closely with suspension partners and its athletes and ambassadors to tune the suspension specifically for women. To accomplish this, select Liv riders tested multiple frame sizes alongside Liv’s design team and suspension partners to identify the best shock tuning for optimal suspension function and target ride feel.
“This bike is super capable on many different types of terrain – truly nimble and fun,” said Morrison. “I was thrilled to give feedback during the tuning process and noticed a big difference in shock performance once we dialed it in.”
Leading Suspension Technology for Better Handling
The Intrigue Advanced features 140/150mm of travel on Giant’s leading Maestro suspension technology. Maestro suspension uses a floating pivot point for effective suspension on all-terrain that allows efficient pedaling, absorbs bigger drops and trail chatter, and offers smooth suspension with brake independence.
Handcrafted Responsive Frame
The bikes are handcrafted with advanced-grade composite that provides the best balance of compliance and stiffness tuned for women. The Intrigue Advanced has an updated Advanced Forged Composite upper rocker arm for maximum strength and lightness for lateral stiffness. This offers a lightweight, comfortable ride with efficient wheel tracking for increased balance and control.
The frame geometry caters to an agile and efficient riding style, with a longer top tube and shorter stem for improved handling. The slack head tube angle at 66.5 degrees enhances the bike’s descending performance, and a steeper seat tube angle at 74.5 degrees improves its climbing finesse.
No Compromise Build
The Intrigue Advanced 0 is spec’d with the same top-of-the-line suspension system and drive train used by Liv global off-road racers, including the DVO custom-tuned Topaz 2 T3 shock with the DVO custom-tuned Diamond fork, complete with the SRAM X01 Eagle drivetrain. The cockpit now features a 35mm TruVativ handlebar and stem for added lightweight front end stiffness. The 27.5 Giant TRX 0 boost wheelsystems come with tubeless Maxxis High Roller II tires, including a 2.4-inch tire in the front and 2.5-inch tire in the rear. The Intrigue Advanced is compatible up to 2.6-inch tires and includes powerful stopping ability with 180mm rotors.
“We poured over every detail from engineering to design for the Intrigue Advanced Series. We wanted to create a bike that is not only designed to perform but will also be inspiring to ride and breathtaking to look at,” said Scholz. “The graphics, color and final coat treatment of the bike draws inspiration from the natural world with subtle pops of texture that illuminate in the sun. It’s the perfect finishing touch to complement this incredibly responsive bike.”
The Intrigue Advanced will be available worldwide later this summer. Find your local Liv retailer online at https://www.liv-cycling.com
Will this have the usual LIV problem of a dropper post that has not enough travel . The 2015 Intrigue my wife rides has a 75 mm dropper. Not enough for her to get back far enough over the back of the seat for confident descending.
Good question. 75mm almost not worth it. I reached out to Liv regarding the new dropper post lengths, hoping at least 100mm! stay tuned…
Update on the dropper post from Liv:
Size Dropper Post Length
XS 75 mm
S 100 mm
M 100 mm
L 125 mm
