Liv Cycling updates their entry-level women's hardtail mountain bike, the Tempt, with prices starting at just $470.

Liv Cycling offers a growing variety of bikes for women, and they recently updated their entry-level, aluminum hardtail. This latest trail machine, called the Tempt, ranges in price from $470 to $1,100. For 2021, size small and medium frames are available with either 27.5″ or 29″ wheels, while the XS bikes take 27.5″ and size large bikes only come with 29″ hoops.

All of the frames follow the Liv women’s specific 3F (Fit, Form, Function) design philosophy. For the size small 27.5″ frames that includes a nice trail-style 68° head tube angle, an average 74° seat tube angle, long 440mm chainstays, and an appropriately short 405mm reach.

With an eye toward adventure, the designers made space for 2.4″ tires on both wheels sizes, rack and fender mounts, and dropper post routing for the 30.9mm seat tube. The bikes also include an 80mm or 100mm fork, depending on size, and internal cable and brake hose routing.

Though none of the builds currently includes a dropper, the top Tempt 0 model spins a full Shimano Deore 6100 drivetrain, scrubs speed with a set of Tektro TKD 149 hydraulic disc brakes, gripping a set of Maxxis Rekon 2.4″ wire bead tires. In a rare twist, the entry level Tempt 4 build has a Shimano front derailleur that pops between a 22 and 36 tooth ring, with a 14-28t cassette out back. That bike slows down with a pair of TRP mechanical disc brakes.

The price of the Level 1 build drops more than $200 off last year’s model to $800, though to get to that price Liv ditches the SX Eagle 12sp drivetrain for a Shimano M4100 10sp. It should be noted the Level 1 comes with Shimano’s 11-42 cassette, and not the 11-46.

Each of the builds is topped off with a Giant house brand handlebar, stem, and seat post, and a Liv saddle.

Liv also offers an electric version of the Tempt, the Tempt E+ 2, priced at $2,400.
