After introducing their new 38mm stanchion behemoth alongside other long travel suspension updates last week, Fox made sure to spice things up on their lighter trail offerings as well.
On the get-down front, the 2021 Transfer dropper post is 25g lighter than its predecessor, with shorter overall lengths to fit more bikes. The redesigned saddle clamp is said to be one of the shallowest on the market, further improving the dropper’s overall stack height. Fox says that the internals are easier to service than previous models, though there is no word on whether the Transfer can be serviced by home mechanics or if it still has to be sent to a certified service center. The Transfer dropper retails for $299 – $349 (€339 – €429) and can be found at many online retailers.
The fully extended post length has been shortened accordingly:
- 175mm, 30.6mm shorter than 2020 Transfer, 8.6mm insertion depth reduction
- 150mm, 38.7mm shorter, 15.5mm reduction
- 125mm, 43.5mm shorter, 20.3mm reduction
- 100mm, 48.4mm shorter, 25.2mm reduction
The company has designed a new one-by lever that’s Matchmaker and I-SPEC EV compatible, sold separately for $65 (€69).
Fox 34 fork can now be ordered with a GRIP2 damper
On the lighter trail side of rear axle damping, Fox claims that the latest DPX2 offers all of the small bump sensitivity of the X2 in a lighter trail package. The shock receives an entirely new base valve design for 2021, dialed in for the type of trail performance riders expect at the highest level of our sport. The DPX2 shock retails for $559 – $579 (€739 – €769). Shop for one online.
Lastly, the lighter-weight 34 trail fork can now be ordered with either a Grip2, Fit4, Live Valve, and GRIP damper, with 120-140mm of travel. The 29″ and 27.5″ forks come in 51 and 44mm offsets, and retail for $749 – $979 (€989 – €1299) online and through local bike shops.
