
For some riders, this might be a hard question to answer. Though we can likely list off the names of the trails we enjoy riding, we don’t always know who manages the land. And even when we do, there’s not always a relationship between the land manager and the quality of the trails. For example, in the USA, some state parks boast excellent mountain bike trails, while in other states, mountain bike trails are an afterthought if they exist at all.

That said, my most epic rides have been found on federal land. That list includes North Carolina, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, Washington, California, and Arizona.
