YT Updates The Alloy Jeffsy Base Model To Match Its Carbon Cousin’s Geo

Mountain bikers can now have all of the geometry genius and long travel of the carbon Jeffsy in an affordable alloy model.

The updated YT Jeffsy alloy Base model inherited many of the same features its carbon brethren have for 2020, with geo to match the fiber frame, added travel, and — you guessed it — longer and slacker angles. YT is no longer calling the Jeffsy a “trail bike,” favoring the more versatile “all mountain” designation for this leggy machine. The 29″ alloy bikes have 150mm of travel front and rear, while the 27.5″ frames squish with an extra centimeter at 160mm front and rear. Both wheel sizes can be had in sizes small through XXL, in TwoTone Blue or Black Magic.

The Base alloy models are equipped with a RockShox Yari RC fork and Deluxe Select shock, a SRAM Eagle SX 1×12-speed drivetrain, SRAM Guide T stoppers, DT Swiss M1900 wheels, a YT Postman dropper, and a set of Maxxis DHR II tires. Yes, that’s two tires designed for maximum rear wheel traction.

The frame maintains its flip-chip tech that allows riders to drop the BB by an additional 8mm, and slacken the headtube by another half of a degree. Geo for the size large 29er spans a 1218mm wheel base with a 66/66.5° headtube angle, 435mm chainstays, and a 470mm reach. Bottom bracket drop across the size run is adjustable between 32 and 24mm, moving the seat tube angle between 77° and 77.5° respectively. Reported weight for the size large 29er bike is 15.3kg (33.7lbs).

The size large 27.5″ alloy Jeffsy has 1215mm of bike between the hubs, 435mm chainstays, a 462mm reach, and 65.5° or 66° headtube angles. The seat tube is a smidge slacker than the 29er at 76.5/77°, with a BB drop between 13 and 6mm depending on flip-chip placement. Reported weight for the large 27.5″ bike is 15.3kg (33.5lbs).

The 2020 YT Jeffsy Base alloy all-mountain bike retails for €/$2,299. Check the YT site for more details and availability.
