Spot Bikes, the boutique brand out of Golden, Colorado has redone the Mayhem 130 trail bike and added a bigger Mayhem 150 model, both of which are available for pre-order today, with deliveries expected in September.
“All mountain bikers want to go farther, explore more, and cover more ground, but they are often held back by gravity-specific bikes that climb poorly and don’t prioritize overall efficiency,” says Spot CEO Andrew Lumpkin. “The new Mayhems take traction and silky power delivery to the next level, all while providing more late-stroke ramp that helps riders rip more climbs, bag more descents, and cause more Mayhem.”
The Mayhem 130 will get a 140mm fork, and it runs with either 29-inch or 27.5+ wheels, with a starting weight of 27.2lbs and a starting price of $4,999. The new Mayhems received a complete frame redesign with fresh angles. Geometry is still fairly conservative. The Mayhem 130 has a 440mm reach on a size medium, with a 25mm change between sizes. The head angle measures 65.2° in its low position, with a 76° seat tube angle on the medium, steepening a half-degree as sizes increase. The rear center on the Mayhem 130 is 435mm.
According to Spot, the Mayhem 150 has a 160mm fork, and works specifically as a 29er, with weights starting at 29.3lbs. Mayhem 150 builds are priced at $5,200 and up. The 150 has a similar reach as the 130, and the head angle isn’t much slacker than the 130, but the seat tube angle is quite a bit steeper on most sizes. The chainstays are 440mm, and the wheelbase on a medium is 1205mm.
Both models use the Spot Living Link design, which is similar to a dual-link design, but with a flexing carbon link found in place of the lower link. Beginning earlier this year, all Spot bikes come with a lifetime warranty.
