Revel adds a new 29″ XC Whip to Their Growing Lineup, Named Ranger

Colorado based Revel Bikes has another new offspring to celebrate, and this one comes in the form of a 29″ hyper modern looking XC race bike. Slotting in as the third frame in their growing stable, the newly minted Revel Ranger has 115mm of rear bump munching movement, and 120mm at the fork. Its siblings include Revel’s park lovin’ 27.5″ Rail with 165/170mm squish, and their second born, the Rascal 29er with its 130/140mm trail-smoothing system.

The Ranger is a far cry from the cross country bikes we were all racing on even five years ago. Following in the down-country line-dance of many other modern XC bikes, it has a laid back 67.5° headtube angle, a lengthy 453mm (medium) reach that would be appropriate on any trail or enduro frame, and ride balancing 436mm chainstays across the size run. The longer reach on this XC bike will allow riders to enjoy the quick handling benefits of a short stem and the stability of wider handlebars that are common on far more gravity focused designs.

Ranger frames use the same Canfield Brother’s Formula rear suspension platform as the other two Revel frames, and all of the juicy details around not squatting and not rising can be found on the Revel Technology page. The forward-most shock mount for this model rests under the top tube, instead of on the downtube like the Rascal and Rail, which allowed the frame designers space to mold in a total of three sets of bottle cage bolts above and below the downtube.

The frame includes a significant amount of chainstay and lower downtube protection that should keep the green or black paint lookin’ good, and the external BB and internal cable and hose guides will make maintenance tasks short lived.

This short travel package comes in three different builds, and while not a one of them is necessarily cheap, they all appear to be well suited to its go-fast focus. The base build has a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain mounted up, an 800mm Truvativ handlebar and 40mm stem, a SID fork with the Charger RL damper, a RockShox SID Lux Select RL shock, and burly Industry Nine 1/1 Enduro S 28 spoke wheels, all for $4,999. The middle offering pedals an X01 Eagle drivetrain, G2 RSC brakes, 780mm Enve M6 handlebar and 40mm Truvativ stem, a SID Ultimate Charger Race Day fork, SID Luxe Ultimate shock, and an RW30 29” Industry Nine 1/1 wheelset for $7,199. Finally, the lightest your wallet will weigh is $9,999 for the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS build that includes an AXS wireless dropper, SRAM G2 Ultimate brakes, Enve 780mm M6 carbon bar and 40mm M6 carbon stem, SID Ultimate Charger Race Day fork, SID Luxe Ultimate RL shock, and RW30 Industry Nine Hydra Wheelset.

There are options and alternates available for several of the above components upon purchase.
