The 27.5″ platform lives on in the new Juliana Furtado and Santa Cruz 5010 trail bikes. As before, the two frames are identical, though the builds and colors diverge somewhat. They both roll on 27.5-inch wheels, with 130mm of rear travel and a one-centimeter longer 140mm fork.
The most striking updates for the Furtado and 5010 frames are the switch to lower link VPP suspension that now damps the rear end of every model but the Blur, and varying chainstay lengths across the size run to give the bikes a better balance. The colorful frames also see a redesigned leverage curve that the brand says will work great with any modern air or coil shock.
Size medium Furtado and 5010 frames use an industry standard 450mm reach in the high position, and notably short 423mm chainstays. The headtube angle is 65.7° in the high position, and 65.4° in low across the board, while the seat tube angle on a medium shifts between 77.4° and 77° respectively. With 370mm-long seat tubes on the XS frames and 460mm on the XL, a lot of riders should be able to choose their frame size based on their desired geometry rather than size initials and still install a dropper with plenty of drop.
Furtado frames are available in sizes XS-M while 5010’s go all the way up to an XL with a 500mm reach.
The two sibling brands say that these new frames are packed with added small bump compliance, improved traction, added mid-stroke support, and a predictable overall feel. The revised VPP linkage reportedly makes it easier to set up and tune shocks than before.
The entry-level Furtado C R build comes with a Fox Float Performance DPS shock and Rhythm 34 fork, and a SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain for $4,099 (€4,399). With three distinct builds in between to suit riders’ component preferences, the top Furtado CC X01 RSV bikes include a full SRAM X01 drivetrain, RockShox Pike Ultimate fork, and Super Deluxe Ultimate shock, with a price tag of $8,099 (€8,399).
