Updated Scott Addict gravel bike boasts massive 57mm tire clearance

Scott updates the Addict gravel bike with 57mm tire clearance, in-frame storage, integrated bar-end tools, and longer geometry for improved stability.

The updated Scott Addict gravel bike, announced today, features massive tire clearance, in-frame storage and stash tools, and updated geometry for improved stability and comfort. It also suggests that gravel riders are seeking ever-wider tires and MTB-inspired features for riding more aggressive terrain.

You can run tires up to 2.25″ wide on the new Scott Addict

Scott says the Addict fits tires up to 57mm (2.25″) wide front and rear thanks to updated chainstay and fork designs. Only a few production gravel bikes currently fit 57mm tires, notably the Allied Able and the Lauf Seigla. Bikes with more than 57mm of tire clearance are generally classified as monstercross or drop bar mountain bikes. At least, for the time being.

Gravel bikes from mountain bike brands Santa Cruz and Evil, the Stigmata and Chamois Hagar, respectively, fit tires up to 50mm wide.

Complete Scott Addict gravel bikes ship with 700x50c Schwalbe G-One tires. The G-Ones are among the few tires available in a 57mm width, along with the Michelin Power Gravel tires. A lot of riders will probably look to mountain bike tires at this width, like the Maxxis Aspen 29×2.25 or the 29×2.20 Continental Race King.

In-frame storage, stash tools, and smart bottle mounts promise all-day adventures

With this update, the Scott Addict gains in-frame storage in the downtube. Scott also includes stash tools in the bar ends: one’s a tire plug tool, the other a simple multi-tool.

Scott says they optimized the placement for bottle mounts on the fork to improve handling. It appears this should also come in handy when navigating tight singletrack trails.

The seatpost on the Scott Addict features the brand’s D-shape design that integrates with their rear light (presumably sold separately). It’s unknown if the Addict is dropper-post compatible. If it’s not, that would be a big missed opportunity given the bike’s off-road-capable tire spec. Singletracks reached out to a Scott representative to learn if the frame is dropper-post compatible and whether it accepts a front derailleur but did not hear back as of press time.

The Scott Addict is getting longer, but promises a familiar fit

Compared to the previous version of the Scott Addict, the latest version sees higher stack heights and longer reaches across the board. However, Scott notes the cockpit reach — essentially the distance from the bottom bracket to the front of the bars — has been pulled in to compensate for the longer reach, keeping the fit roughly the same.

The bottom bracket height is lower as well, and the medium and larger bikes have a slacker head tube angle, now 70° across all sizes. The 2027 Scott Addict is offered in seven sizes from XXS to XXL.

According to Scott, all of the builds weigh under 20lb, not including the stash tools. US pricing ranges from $3,499.99 for the entry-level Addict Gravel 40 build to $10,499.99 for the Addict Gravel Premium build. Framesets will be available for purchase as well.
