Tailgate pads are convenient for hauling bikes with a pickup truck, but they can be a hassle to store. The new Race Face Stash tailgate pad is designed to roll up when not in use, like a sleeping bag, so you can store it inside your truck or at home.
Race Face claims Stash is “the first roll-up tailgate pad on the market,” which is surprising given what a simple solution it is. Me? I store my tailgate pad inside a storage shed, laid out flat on top of my lawnmower. Needless to say, this is less than ideal.
Race Face Stash tailgate pad specs
Naturally, the Stash features a panel that lets you access the tailgate latch and/or backup camera on your truck. Four nylon straps secure the pad to the tailgate, and there are velcro straps to secure five or six bikes, depending on whether you have the mid- or full-size version.
The Race Face Stash tailgate pad is covered in a PVC tarpaulin material and has 20mm of padding between downtube and tailgate. The padding is stowable as well, making the pad compatible with Tonneau covers. Rolled up, the Stash is roughly 16″ in diameter and is 20″ or 22″ tall for the mid- and full-size versions, respectively.
Priced at $179 USD, the cost of the Race Face Stash is on par with other premium tailgate pads on the market. Available now from Race Face.
