Which Mountain Bike Suspension Setting(s) Do You Find Perplexing?
Customizing your mountain bike suspension settings is a great way to dial in the perfect ride feel, and having the ability to make adjustments is helpful. At the same time, all of options can be overwhelming.
Pretty much all fork manufacturers recommend 20% preload. I have found that this is good in general as a starting point. However, I attempt to use as much of the forks and rear shock travel as possible on the trail and adjust it in during the ride to absorb the worst conditions with bottoming out. I also use the lockout features on smoother faster trails.
I understand what compression damping is, but I don’t know how to use it. I suspect I’m running too much air pressure cause I am leaving compression open or it feels harsh.
Rebound is easier. As fast as possible without feeling like getting bucked.
