but i will do some study on this…
    i need to learn anyway..
Thank you so much for the info..

    Oh..yeah… 😉
    thanks.

in reply to: Question on Rear Shock PSI… #92321

    Thanks..
Yeah..i called the Santa Cruz and they told me to check their web-site and..
i got the info that i need..
    A lot less PSI then i imagined…
According to their info i should go with 120 PSI (This is for 160 lbs..i’m 157 lbs so pretty close)
I will try this and see what happens…
Some said that 10% off of my weight is the right PSI (which is around 144 PSI)..but don’t know…
Again..thank you guys for the info..
If anyone has different advice that will help me a lot too.
    THX.

    Thanks dgaddis….
    I will try that..
The guy who was riding on that frame was about 200lbs and i’m only 160lbs..
So it felt like..the rear shock was way too stiff for me… almost like a hardtail… 😢
    Thank you for the advice…

in reply to: Question on Rear Shock.. #92024

Thank you guys for the advice..
The weakness of Fox shock they say is that when it fails i really can’t fix it by my self but Rock shox is kind of easy to do so…so on that side, which means in long term, it feels like will be cheaper for me to go with Rockshox even if i’m paying more for it since Fox shock is charging about 100 to fix it.
(don’t know if this is true or not but…)…
I understand that i’m stuck in the middle between the shocks that are pretty much the same level..
I’m not that focused on just saving money buy saying "cheaper"..but wanted to be more careful before i make my choice…
I’m willing to spend around 200 for rear shock…
Shall i look for different ones?
    Thx.

    Thanks for the photo…
can’t wait to roll on it…
I think…I like freestyle, but who knows, i might be on a huge DH Bike with monster Fork
    after couple years…
i need to learn how it feels like first ..i guess.. 😀

    Thanks..
This is what i came up with…

-Frame, Gear : Mongoose xr-250, Shimano.
    -Tires : Kenda Nevegal Stick-e
    -Wheel : WTB
-Shock : Front Fork (Rock Shock Dart-1)
Rear Shock (Stock, looking to upgrade)
-Brake : Front (Disc) Rear (Converted to Disc)

I’ll try this out and will see what happens…
I might want to get decent Santacruz Bike but for now i’m happy with what i got.. 😃

in reply to: Another Beginer Here…:) #91851

    OK..
    I’ll take your advice…
I think thats a really good idea..
Riding on a bike that i built for myself instead of somebody else..
I’ll keep my eyes on some decent frames…
Gosh…this is a wonderful place for a beginner like me…truly…..
    Thank you guys.. 😃

in reply to: Another Beginer Here…:) #91849

    I agree…
The only way which bike makers can keep their cost down is by using cheaper components…
I’m not an bike expert here..but what my thinking is what if i can build up my one and only bike..
I understand that it will cost more than buying a good bike..but still..i want to build up my own bike..I do truly know that expensive bikes are more durable and a lot better in many ways..
    But still… 😉
I might need to live with what i got now and as i improve i’m 100% sure that i will want to upgrade..
    Personally i like Santacruz bikes..^^ but i can’t afford it now so…
But even if when i can afford it…i will still keep my WTB Wheels & Kanda Nevegal Stick-e’s…..

Thank you guys for all the advice.
"I can blow up bike that’s 7k when somebody is making some smoke with the bike that they for $200 on craigslist…"
Yeah..this really opens up an idea how i should deal with mountain biking…
If i don’t love my gear even if it’s worth 7k..it will still break down….
    I’ll keep that in mind…
Sooooo glad to meet you guys all..!!!.. 😃

in reply to: Another Beginer Here…:) #91844

    Yeah,,i agree..
i will not put too much in to the bike that i have now but i thought that tires, wheels and rear brake had to be changed so that’s what i did…
    i don’t jump crazy(..i can’t.. 😃 ) so this bike should be ok for a while..i hope…
    will see what happens…
Thank you guys for the advice…

    Thanks for the reply.. 😃
    I got Shwinn s60 dsx.
I recently upgraded the wheels(WTB), tires(Kenda Nevegal Stick-E), rear brake to disc from v-brake
Looking to get a good rear-shock..
some people are saying that it is better to get a good bike rather then getting a starter bike and
upgrade it but this is how i ended up with..
So…i guess i will have to live with this for a while until i get better bike…
    Again.. Thanks.
