Wahrani review

#84279

I just rode Wahrani for the first time on 11/22/09. There will be another EVMA (Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association) group ride on Sun, 11/29/09 at 10:00; just meet up in the parking lot. It’s best to ride with some people who know the trail, as it is a system of connected loops and there is no mandatory direction. But we usually went counterclockwise.
I liked the trail a lot and will be back. Flat sections are few and short. There are several uphills and downhills, so you’ll get to use many gears. There’s a lollipop section near the back of the trail system. We first went counterclockwise for a long, steady climb followed by a steep downhill. Then we went clockwise on the same section for a grueling, steep climb followed by a longer downhill. Both routes were fun in different ways.
The roots are not too bad (unlike Marl Ravine trail at York River State Park, which is very rooty). There are a few jumps and log piles, but overall not too many obstacles. The switchbacks are the challenge.
Check it out – great trail!
