I had to yesterday when all of a sudden without warning, it shifted out of high into 1:1 at about 15mph! First time that’s happened in the 2 years since getting the geared hub. I think I must have accidentally engaged it partially and it just auto-shifted. It was as if I was spinning freely since 1:1 at that speed would have required me to pedal MUCH faster just to catch up with the lower gear. Luckily I landed on my feet, initially, but could not run it out. Finally fell but no injury.
