When I first heard about this video a few days ago, I have to admit that I was a little skeptical. “Gee Atherton gets chased down the mountain by a bird… big deal. Who thinks of these things?”
But with Gee Atherton and Red Bull involved, I should have known better. This is a fantastic video with superb editing, and in less than a week after its release it has already gathered well over 1 million views.
You can check out the bike/falcon action here:
If you want to watch the action from the falcon’s perspective, check out this vid:
Watch those last night – awesome indeed, and fantastic idea!
That bird is freakin’ awesome.
Awesome.
That training probably helped him win Fort William.
Cool. Am I learning Technic from the bird or the man. Freaking wild. I was expecting target to get taken while airborne. 🙂
Watched thes a few days ago! So cool!
Very cool!
Who is sitting around coming up with the idea to have a falcon chase a mountain biker with a piece of meat Velcroed to his back?!
I was wondering this myself. Red Bull has got to have the most interesting marketing & media department ever!
For the life of me I can’t figure out how Redbull makes money. They SPEND so much! All sorts of extreme sports stuff (this, the space jump, the air races, Danny MacSkill’s Imaginate project, etc) and even sponsor a few race cars (including Forumla 1). How are they paying for it? Who actually drinks Redbull? I don’t, and I’ve never seen anyone buy one either.
dgaddis, that is a dang good question. I basically only buy energy drinks for long road trips (ex: out to California and back), and even then I buy Red Bull maybe 50% of the time.
But at over $3 per 8 oz can, they’re really raking it in.
I wonder how jacked up his jersey and helmet were after the ride. Looks like the bird had a few run ins with both and that dude looks like he has some serious talons.
This has got to be my favorite MTBing video to date!
