Do you want to get together with a gaggle of mountain bikers and hikers for a fun ride in the forest, followed by live music and festivities? Bike4Buckelew has all that fun covered! The event takes place Saturday, May 14, at China Camp State Park in San Rafael, California.
Buckelew Programs has been working with folks to overcome addiction and mental health struggles for over fifty years, and now you can support those important efforts. The Buckelew CEO says “Bike4Buckelew connects our community we serve and the natural beauty in our local environment. The clients we serve are experiencing behavioral health challenges and many live with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance use. The experience of trekking up a mountain is analogous to our clients’ journey – fraught with challenges and often setbacks that offer learning opportunities. But there can be joy in this rugged journey and beauty in empowerment.”
The press release added that “Members of the Bike4Buckelew Cycle Advisory include local legends Joe Breeze and Marc Vendetti, as well as Access4Bikes and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC). A private pre-event kickoff celebration will take place at the Marin Museum of Bicycling.”
