I need help with buying my first full suspension bike.
I want something I can ride with my kids on trails and paths for pleasure. But I want to be able to also go out with my buddies and use it for trail riding and downhill. Im also looking at a price point of $2500.So far the best option for the money that I can see is the Diamondback Mission 2. However, I cannot find this bike anywhere local to test ride. I do like the way the Giant Trance 2 felt and rode. It seemed like a good all around bike for me, but at $3,000 its a bit too much. I can get a mission 2 for around $2,500. So far the only downfall to this bike that I can see from reviews is that it is a little heavier and only has 10 speeds (not sure if I need more than that?). I have also had LBS tell me that DB geometry is old and not up to date like Giant. Any info would be great.
Thanks

For the mix of riding you’re describing, I’d consider the Giant Anthem. It’s completely capable for some downhill loving but doesn’t penalize you by making you pedal an all-mountain or downhill rig around with your little ones.

Thanks, I think I want more of an all mountain, but I’ll look at it next time I go to the shop.
Im really leaning toward the DB Mission 2. But can’t pull the trigger just yet. Thanks

I recommend a Giant Stance because it has bulletproof components, 27.5 inch wheels, and about 5 inches of travel. At 1500 it’s a great buy. Other one would be to find a good 2007 Kona Coiler. 6.5 inches of front and rear travel, and about 33 pounds, great for DH
