Just got my new Fox Flux and I love it. Highly recommend it. Unless you are a very small person, go with the L/XL size. It fits better than any lid I’ve tried before and by far is the best looking helmet in the market.

Agreed, the Flux is a great lid. It’s a good alternative to the Giro Xen.

Yeah, I got one too, in the brown camo pattern. Although the 2008 Xens look pretty hawt with that kinda Alpenflage type camo pattern.

I actually ordered both and can’t make up my mind on which to keep, the black camo or the stone camo. Both are very cool.

What get’s me is right after I got my flux, Giro comes out with the 2008 Hex in an Olive green with Orange highlights, and recently I have turned into an orange Ho.

I think I am so obsessed with orange right now because it’s still hunting season and I want to be seen, and hopefully not shot at.

I am tempted to get the Hex and then compare the two. The stone camo is cool though.

I agree on the orange. All my outer wear is orange. I have an orange Novara Tempest jacket (highly recommend it) that I wear on every fall/winter ride because many of my trails butt up against private property and I don’t want a budweiser infested hunter to mistake me for Rudolph.

Yeah, I know what you mean. This year, I went a little nuts with the orange attire which now includes a Columbia Blaze Orange Howling Wind Jacket – this thing is warm! Thank goodness it has zip pits.

I got a few blaze orange long sleeve Ts, a zip up fleece hoodie and an Adidas Storm riding jacket.

I am pretty oranged out. You can never be too safe.

While there is hunting on private land, where I live there isn’t that much that abuts where the riding is, however, we do have quite a few State Forests that have trails in them and where hunting is allowed – that can be scary.

In fact there is a story floating around about a woman up in Mass whose dog was shot by a hunter and it seems that the hunter didn’t offer any assistance but she got a look at him. Bastard. Further sullies hunters.

I am kind of torn on the need for hunters. Since I live in a somewhat rural but becoming urbanized area, the dear are more like hooved rats. They eat your shrubs and get in the way of the cars at times. So hunting is good because it thins the herds.

However, in the same respect, I think hunters, the NRA, and other fanatics (no offense Bomberman) take the Right to Bare Arms way to seriously. There are way too many guns available and knuckleheads that have no clue how to safely use them. Which makes me a little uneasy.

This October we did the Holy Grail, Tsali. It is deep in the mountains of North Carolina and the forest is[i:3crsirac] shared[/i:3crsirac] with hunters! While we were on the trails, we encountered bear hunters with their dogs.

What they do is this. They release the dogs, the dogs run and try to find bears, then tree them. The hunters then come up and shoot the bear out of the tree. Poor bear. Fortunately, on this day, the hunters didn’t have any luck. But as we passed them, they asked us if we had seen any bears. Luckily we had not, but even if we had I would have said hell no.

That sounds totally unsportsmanlike. That’s like shooting ducks and geese while they are on the ground or swimming. I’d like to see these same hunters try going after a grizzly.

Here I am with my flux. Rode today, but it was crappy with all the slush and crust.

well I went with the black camo because that is the one I originally meant to get. I was torn though because the stone camo was really growing on me and it was totally a mountain look.

I had to take one back because it was worth $100 bucks at the local Performance store so I was able to rack up a bunch of winter stuff.

Hilarious t-shirt by the way. Does that say "don’t shoot me bro" ? Priceless.

Yeah, a local biking community (http://www.bikerag.com) decided to put out a fall riding shirt and after all the deliberations, this what they came up with. My input was to have the "Don’t shoot me bro" down low so it’s not blocked by the camel. This was the first chance I had to ride most of December because of the weather. It was close to 50 today!

I may be a fanatic, but I won’t touch that one, not here. But next time you’re in Colorado, I’ll unlimber my AK, a couple hundy 7.62’s, and we’ll head up to Rampart Range. The feral TVs & microwaves are in season, and they’re overrunning the area. 😼

Well I’m jealous you got to ride today. I take like 10 days off each year the week of Christmas through New Years.

As you likely know, the southeast has been hit with a horrible drought this summer. Bad for water sources, great for biking. Weather is never a problem other than it being hot. Heck, the trails got so dry around here, they were actually sketchy in the corners this summer because they were dust.

Well ever since Christmas we’ve had nothing but rainy days. I had planned to ride my ass off, but have only been able to get in about 20 miles. Guilt of trail damage has reduced me to hiking the trails with my trusted riding companion, Zoey my dog.

The locals here had planned an epic 40 mile ride all the local trails ride on new years day but it is looking doubtful due to rain.

We need the rain desperately, but why this week???? Ugh.

Ride on my Conneticut brother! my website is http://www.eteamz.com/hammerheads
