      Happy Friday everybody!

Okay so, my current ride that I have is a Caonnondale Trail 7 2015. I’ve been riding with a group from a local bike shop over here in Germany and it has been amazing, absolutely love it! So I have run into a situation though. I bought my bike used from somebody that barely rode it and never took it into the trails back in 2016 (bike being 1 year old). The guy said he never got it tuned since he never rode it that much. After about a year of me riding it I finally got it tuned a little bit ago. So now we get to me riding with this group. We have hit some pretty sweat trails but nothing too complicated at all; no jumps but a few stairs. After about 3 ride and two falls I had to take in my bike to the bike shop to get it checked out. The owner called me in today and explained everything to me. My front derailer is done (bent to all hell), my 2nd cassette in the front is also bent, all of my cassettes in the rear have a ton of wear on them, my back derailer is also done, and to top it all off my chain is stretched as well. So he told me that he could replace everything with the same exact (crappy) components or upgrade everything with solid parts. I would like to have a 1×11 or a 2×11. So I got to talking to the owner and he said since my bike brand new was $600 it would not make sense to spend $400 on all of these parts. I may as well upgrade to a brand new bike. He showed me this bike https://www.giant-bicycles.com/de/talon-0-ltd except it came with Rock Shox on the front. So no my question to you all is, would that be worth it? Should I upgrade to the Giant and use that for the next couple of years ooooorrrrrrrr just upgrade my group set, save the money and use that for the next year till I could upgrade to a really nice FS? The group set that I am thinking about getting is https://www.bike-components.de/en/Shimano/XT-M8000-1×11-Groupset-p50775/ if i do end up going that route. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks yall!

I should have added, the two falls that happened were not bad all all. Got right back up and kept going.

If you like the bike then fix it. If you’re ready to upgrade, then do that. Drivetrain will wear out on any bike regardless of cost

        Get the new bike.

Those components are too nice for a bike that originally cost $600.  Nothing wrong with a $600 bike, just don’t waste big $$$ upgrading it.  You have the fever, move towards the light and accept that you need to spend money on a bike that will advance with you.  The more you spend up front the more you will save and enjoy!  Have fun!

Just keep in mind that no matter what decision you make you still have to fix the Cannondale.  What about fixing the bike with the (crappy) components, then selling it and using that cash toward the purchase of a FS bike if that’s what you really want?
