Oskar Blues Brewery, based in Longmont and responsible for popular beers such as Dale’s Pale Ale, is launching a mountain bike company named REEB Cycles. (Points for guessing what the significance of REEB is.)

They recently completed and sold their first line of 20 hand-made steel single speed 29ers. At the moment, their bikes utilize the Gates Carbon Drive belt drive system, which I personally really enjoy. Word is REEB will have another run of 20 bikes ready to go by about the end of the year. They are currently offering frames for about $1200 and a full build for about $3-4k.

Interesting. I love Dale’s and Old Chub, though I’m not sure how magical beer making skills translate into bike making skills. 😀

These bikes are really similar to the Spot Brand Rocker (29er, steel frame, carbon drive) and I think it’s a little more than coincidence. Spot Brand is located just down the road in Golden and they even sponsored the Oskar Blues cycling team at one time. Could these be Spot bikes in disguise?

Very likely. They’re cheaper than the Spot’s too!

Hard to see in that pic, but the dropout looks like Spot’s design.
