Have to say that spending 1500 on new bike i thought was a bit much but its over and i love the ride. A friend just spent 195? on a scwhinn and his skills are beginner so it should be a fine bike for him. If he decides he likes it then he can upgrade.Whats silly is the people with money buy the nastiest mountain bikes and really can ride well enough for that caliber bike.

Totally agree. My advice, for what it is worth, don’t over buy. I expect you will find that your bike, no matter what you pay, is more capable than you are. You are going to abuse it, get some pain, break a few bits and and when your ride is complete your bike will be in better shape than you are. It will still be ready to ride tomorrow while you are considering golf as a hobby.
