Trail Description
About this trail
Heading in a clockwise direction, the trail climbs about 300 feet in the ?rst 1.5 miles. It shifts suddenly downward as riders round the ?rst major switchback and continues to descend for the next 1.5 miles. From that point on, the trail meanders along at just over 5,000 feet, with a handful of technical spots along the way. Challenging but far from intimidating, this trail offers the perfect training ground for mountain bike racers and enthusiasts seeking to re? ne their skills. It's a fun ride that can be ?nished in just about an hour, leaving plenty of time to try it again in the opposite direction.

Review: Warning; you need access to Fort Huachuca to get to this trail. We went after a light rain which compacted the soil enough for a seriously fun ride. My friend was a first time rider and this trail sold him on mountain biking as a sport. There are some single track areas that are more intermediate in technical ability, but you have to really search for them. Otherwise most of this ride is wide horseback-riding trails and just as much incline climbing as there is downhill. I recommend starting on the left of the EOD area fenced with red lights.

Review: The trail is sandy and has mild elevation change in comparison to most trails in the SV area. Its not marked and there are a number of intersecting fire roads throughout. You will need access to Ft Huachuca to access railhead. I parked at the rodeo arena lot, which actually offered some shade. Could be a good post work ride if you work on post. Would still ride here over Huachuca Canyon. There is apparently a map on the trailforks app. Might want to check that out prior to/ during ride.
