Mountain Biking Waterdog Lakes

  Add a review
#1,261 of 1,368 mountain bike trails in Colorado

The Water Dog Lakes trail is about 2 miles one-way or 3.7 miles round-trip. Let's be clear up front: this is most definitely NOT an ideal trail for biking. It's relatively short, and brutally steep and technical up to the lake, as well as being a very popular hiking route. However, it does lead to a gorgeous lake at the end, would be a fantastic downhill on the way back (if there's no foot traffic), and it IS bike legal, so on the website it goes! There's one section of rerouted trail that is quality benchcut, but for the most part the tread is washed-out, rocky, fall line singletrack that has turned into doubletrack in many places. At the time of this writing, I've only hiked this trail, and can only imagine that going up it on a bike would be brutal. However, I'd love to try descending it!
