Mountain Biking Waipunga Block

*   Add a review
#315 of 387 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#25,301 in the world

There is a myriad of purpose-built singletrack in this forest block, most of it requiring an advanced skill level. You need to be fit because they are the old fashioned style of trail that surrender altitude rather too easily resulting is a lot of climbing back up! But you'll be smiling all the way...

Getting there
From Hastings or Napier head north on State Highway 2. At the fork take SH5 towards Taupo. Watch out for Waipunga Road on the right just after Eskdale. It's 5.5 km from the SH5 turnoff. The car park is on the right less than one kilometre up Waipunga Road.

    These trails are starting to look tired and neglected. They're old style trails - good for a workout in the peace of the pine forest but the locals obviously prefer the newer trails in the Mill Block.
