Mountain Biking Wagonhammer Trail System

*****   Add a review
#41 of 317 mountain bike trails in Idaho
#3,474 in the world

The Wagonhammer trails have 3 basic access points as described in the Directions. One for XC riding and two for shuttles.

From the Wagonhammer Trailhead there are several loop options and singletrack opportunity for all abilities and fitness levels. Great exploring can be had as well. Lots of wildlife in the area too, including an occasional wolf sighting.

The shuttle rides are big vertical. All late season shuttles start at Stein Mtn Lookout and you have 5 choices to finish your descent.

Please Close ALL Gates between June 1 and Sept 1.

Getting there
To get to the main Wagonhammer trailhead from Salmon travel North on US93 about 19 miles along the Salmon River. You will see a public rest area on the right that has a set of stair accessing a picnic area. Go right here and follow the dirt road to the Trailhead, about a 1/4 mile.

The early season shuttle access is by way of Sheep Creek Road on US93 north of North Fork. This road is signed as USFS #77 once you are up in the think of the woods.

Later in the season (mid-July depending on snowpack) the big shuttle rides are accessed via 4th of July Creek off of US93 to the south and east of North Fork. Take 4th of July up to Stein Mtn Lookout.
