Trail Description
About this trail
Nestled deep within the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, the Sugarcamp Mountain Trail system is a multi-use (mountain biking, hiking, & horse) facility created through a joint effort by Jenny Wiley State Resort Park and the city of Prestonsburg. Sugarcamp includes roughly 6 miles of horse-friendly, machine-built trail which provides spectacular views of Dewey Lake and the surrounding area; as well as an additional 12 miles of hand-carved, technical singletrack dedicated to mountain biking & hiking. Trail difficulty varies (and is indicated at all trailheads), but at least an intermediate skillset is required to navigate all trails within the property.

Review: Can't really add any more info than the previous 2-3 reviews except that novice rides can ride the lower elevation trails and try Lodgeview to see what it's like at the next level. Feathered Indian is a must for any advanced rider.

Review: Some of the best mountain bike trails in the state. Over 25 miles of hand built singletrack trail open at this point with more being constructed. A little bit of everything from fast, flows downhill to technical sections and everything in between.

Review: Sugarcamp trails are a notch above anything else in the area, and are a ton of fun. The trails handle water excellent, so unless it's currently raining everything should roll good during the usual riding months. Things can get a tad confusing, but the locals are very familiar and willing to help. Look them up on the Sugarcamp Mountain Trails Facebook page. The trails are NOT for novice riders, so keep that in mind before heading out there.
