Trail Description
About this trail

Park at the VIP store and take the trail up the hill to the left side and you are in for a fun ride. Trails are flowy, some log jumping that you can bypass most of the time if not up for it. Hard to get lost since all trails end up inside the park. There is one more technical section of the trail next to a basketball court that is up a ridgeline with exposed roots. Overall very fun, good for intermediate riders but doable for a beginner

Trail Q&A
Rider Questions

Q: Who maintains this trail? I tried to ride today and ended up carrying my bike almost as much as I rode it. Lots and lots of downed trees blocking trails. There are bypasses, so the trees aren't new. I'd love to volunteer for a trail day and help cut some of the trees off the trail. -loki_racer

A: The trails are maintained by volunteers for the most part, daily Trail PGH. However, trees to be removed with chainsaws (any power tools) have to be taken out by Allegheny County Laborers. You can call 412-350-2513 with the location of downed trees. Try to be as specific as possible, gps coordinates help. This will result in a work order being placed to remove the tree.

Q: I tried to find the track and I was not able to. You mentioned it is a uphill road, is that uphill rd you mentioned is the 1 Hundred Acre Dr. I am planning to do a run tomorrow and would be helpful if you explain in a bit more detail. Thanks! -sivakarthik06

A: Yes looks like going SW on 1 Hundred a short distance you will cut trail.

Review: Pros: Some flowy sections. One nice downhill section.

Cons: horse trails mix with mountain bike trails. A few steep climbs, and descents too steep to enjoy.

Low Down: This was my first time riding here, but I explored a good deal of the park. I hit the entire white blaze trail, and the air field trail, plus more. For starters, there are a lot of splinter trails off the main white blaze trails. Learning these and organizing a flow to the park will be beneficial. All together this is a less compelling place to ride than other local trails, especially compared to Hartwood, North Park, and Frick.

I took a true beginner on his first ride here and he managed. So that gives you an idea of the skill level needed. Some quality log jumps, some nice flow sections. If I lived 10 minutes from the park this would be a suitable home trail. All in all worth it, and worth coming back. Still, nothing stands out here.

Review: Sweet and fun singletrack, no grueling climbs...more gradual and not long. Ocassional log jumps with chicken runs avaliable for the less daring.
