Trail Description
About this trail
This trail system is made up of nearly 6 miles of tight, twisty, all-dirt singletrack in 3 separate loops, with a 4th loop in the works.(Fourth trail is complete)
Modest elevation gain, thick forest, and smooth hardpack make for rides which will satisfy every rider from beginner to advanced. The trails were designed in such a way that they would be a place not only for beginners to try out mountain biking, but also to allow more advanced riders an opportunity to test their bike handling skills by riding the narrow trails at a more rapid pace.

Review: Rode a week ago. Storm damage from the previous week was evident as there was a tree toppled on 4. Lots of downed limbs. Didn't see a couple until too late but otherwise great fast and flowy trails. I did parts of 2 and all of 4 and spent several hours there. All the downed limbs slowed things a bit and the spider webs were insane. Nice trail system and if you want to take it easy, you can or you can ride fast and hit some of the jumps and make things a bit more challenging. Quite a few roots and several ravine crossings make things interesting. I'll be back soon.

Review: I really enjoy trail number 4. GORC is doing a great job adding nice trail features to this trail. Best place to start on this trail is from the paved trail that heads to the SIUE campus. It has a nice flow to it.

Review: Easy tight and winding single track great for beginners. Gets a little boring for more advanced riders, but nice for the area. Park by the model airport runway, trail starts in the woods opposite it.

Review: Poorly marked, difficult to follow, but an absolute blast. It's a must to start from the trailhead by the model airplane field to follow the numbers in order.
It's a beginner trail but with the optional technical bits I would put in intermediate difficulty.

Review: Great for people starting out and has the ability to be ridden faster by more advanced riders. I ride them weekly.

Review: These trails are only 2 miles from my house, so I ride them a lot. They are stacked loops and I can ride for around 10 miles without repeating a trail, though I always do trail 6 and 8 several times. Be sure to look at the maps (or print one of the GORC website and take it with you). It is very easy to get turned around out there if you aren't familiar with the trails. GORC maintains these trails and do a great job keeping them in good shape, though in early summer it isn't uncommon for certain sections of the trails to get overrun by bushes. For the most part very beginner friendly and the traffic is very light. I can often ride without seeing a single other rider.

Review: This trail with the additions GORC (Gateway off-road cyclists) have made to the trail it is 9-10 miles, with 8 different trails. For a first time rider the trails can be confusing to find and ride. The trail's two main trail-heads are the MCT bike trail, and the SIUe model airplane field. I recommend printing of a map off of for a first time ride to get the full 10 mile experience without getting lost. Trails 1,4,8 are some of the most fun with technical small steep climbs, and a very challenging down hill.

Review: Rode these trails on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I'd never been here and was fortunate to meet a local rider who was very helpful with route advice. I found the trails to be fast and fun with numerous tight turns. There were no really technical areas and no huge climbs but lots of roots. I had a little trouble interpreting some of the signage and finding the trail when it crossed an open area or greenway. Also, because of the thick, close vegetation, I was constantly worried that I might meet someone head on at one of the numerous blind corners. It didn't happen though, and I had a great ride. I highly recommend checking this one out.

Review: I'd rate these trails three and a half stars if that was an option. The trails are kept in good shape. Not technical except for one steep creek crossing near the beginning that can get very muddy. If you like your trails super tight and twisty you'll enjoy these ones.
