Trail Description
About this trail
Pole Hill is made up of several loops. It definitely helped that we had a GPS device while we were riding.
It is a 4x4 trail but there are plenty of technical sections due to the many rock outcroppings in the area.
The first part of the trail is a rocky uphill climb. There are a couple of loops on the southeast and northwest areas of the trail with a connecting trail between them.
The trail can get pretty rocky (and steep at times) but also has some epic views and fun downhill sections. This trail has it all!
There were a few water crossings because of some recent rains but nothing too difficult. We had a great time on this trail even though its not a true singletrack trail!

Review: This was a fun intro to Estes Park. Short ride to acclimate to the altitude. Ran into a few 4x4's. They were polite and not too noisy.

Review: This is a pretty good trail to ride on for intermediate rider. A descent start up hill with some rocky sections. Good uphills and downhills sections with the loops. Lots of 4x4 tours from Estes Park so watch out around corners.

Review: Great trail even though its a 4 by 4 trail difficult appeal climb to start and then it starts with some great up and down hill we decided to go counterclockwise. Some good hard climbs followed by some rewarding downhill with spots to catch air off of. Awesome place to spend the day exploring.

Review: Challenging rocky hill climb shortly after parking lot. Trail becomes more mild with technical sections moderated by sandy/loose easier sections. Meadow at 1.2 miles is a welcome change. Majestic scenic views to West and shade abounds. Great ride!

Review: Pole Hill is one of my favorite rides is Estes. Everyone thinks single track is the holy grail but I rather enjoy riding for hours and only seeing a jeep or two and having the trail (or 4x4 road in this case) to myself. Its also in great shape even after an afternoon of rain so environmental impact is low. The trail is like a pretzel, with and outer loop interconnected by inner loops. This makes it possible to ride the outer loop, cut through and hit your favorite downhill sections again. The small water crossings are dry by mid-July. The climb starts with a big climb but the ride improves so don't bail out due to your introduction. I like to ride it counter clockwise but once a year or so I'll do it the other way. The views are worth bringing a camera and you can do a quick bit if the ride in an hour or so or spend the afternoon doing laps around various loops. It's nice in the autumn too as there are some meadows and stands of aspen as well.

Review: This is a 4x4 trail but we still enjoyed it. Nice forest areas, great views from the top and really nice downhills. Some very steep grades but they don't last long. The nice thing about a wide trail is the multiple lines available to choose from.
My wife dropped my son and I off at the trailhead but we rode all the way down to Estes Park when we were done (on Hwy 36).
