Fun ride through the Mt. Sutro forest. Technical signal track that has some big drops if you slip on "Historic Trail". A lot of cutbacks going down to Stanyan St. exit. This trail is well maintained by volunteers at http://sutrostewards.org.

Trail Q&A
Rider Questions

1

Q: Kid (7-8 years old) friendly? -Adam Van Winkle

A: I'd do a ride through without the kid before just so you know where the sketchy spots are. There are some parts that are pretty narrow and could be dangerous for kids, but the most part, its pretty mild.

Review: I really can't say enough good stuff about this trail, if you live in the city and you mountain bike, you have to check this spot out, end of story.

Review: Worth a ride with the knobby tread if you are looking to get in a quickie. Make sure not to go during the weekend as it gets busy and there are many hikers with dogs and kids. I wouldn't call this trail technical, can definitely be done on a cross bike. Link with Twin Peaks and it can even be taken down to Glen Canyon

Review: This place is a hidden gem in the city. Single tracks, great climb and can get very technical at times.

Review: Great MTB option in the heart of San Francisco. Hardly any people there either! Track is in good condition.

Review: Not very many miles of trails, but super easy to ride to if you live in the city. Well maintained single track, but not unpopular for hikers, so keep your head up and be ready to stop.

Review: Fantastic heart pumper in the middle of the city. A hidden gem great for locals that can't do a full day ride. Short and sweet with some good grades.

Review: I ride here everyday, sometimes twice per day. There are three main trails (Historic, North Ridge, East Ridge) linked up by cutoffs. There are other trails--west ridge, mystery and fairy gates--that act as conduits to make loops, links etc. Little jumps, and handful of berms...all up and down. And like some commentators said... there is penalty in the form of drop offs on many of the trails. Well maintained, never too tech, and few hikers as long as it's the middle of a weekday. Basically all singletrack...but there are a few areas of double.

Review: Had a blast riding down this trail. Its a little crouded with hikers but that will give you a chance to slow down and not slip off the steep cliff. The trail is well taken care of by http://sutrostewards.org
