About this trail
Short loop, beginner/intermediate. We had to ride it twice to get in an hour ride. (Note: another map here is listed as McKeldin Area, but it is not.. that map is for an area further south.)

Review: I have just started exploring these trails as we use them with our MICL (Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League) team. There is some great single track here with some more technical trails as well. There are a lot of grade changes and can be fun and challenging for bikers of all levels.

Review: By the standards of trails in the DC-Baltimore area, Patapsco's McKeldin system has a lot of grade changes. Most of the trails are relatively smooth singletrack, but there are sections that are a little more technical and rocky/rooty. It is nothing like the Frederick Watershed but the ample mileage and extended climbs and downhill sections definitely make it worth the trip for anyone within an hour's drive.

Review: First time riding this loop, actually started from the Woodstock Inn crossed the bridge and entered the trail on the North side of the river. We never crossed the river staying on the lower loop, which is about 6.2 miles according to gps. Great ride, some good climbs, long but not super steep, some interesting ruins, old cars take notice of the grim reaper in one, and some nice down hill runs. Really fun ride look forward to doing it again soon! Tan64

Review: Some sections are very difficult and some are very easy. The park management has worked in the last two years to close sections of trail that were being eroded and exposing too many roots and rocks for their liking. Those tough sections were replaced with at least one great section of flowing single track. Many people do not enjoy the many ups and downs of the trails, but that does leave the trails a little empty for those of us who do enjoy these trails. Beware of high traffic times as many horses do use the trails. It is a favorite of those who live close and acceptable for those who live further away.
