Located in the rugged White Mountains near Lincoln, Loon Mountain Resort offers 20 trails totaling 14 miles of singletrack and 1,000 vertical feet of descent. The bike park has evolved significantly since opening in 2019 with just three trails, and now features everything from cross-country routes to their newest addition: Zombie, the resort's first double black diamond descent. This entirely hand-built trail descends about 600 vertical feet via a series of steep, rooty drops, featuring "steep turns, loamy descents, and punchy technical features designed to push the most seasoned riders to their limits." The raw, technical flavor includes exposed rocks, small cliff bands, and semi-manmade features with bridges built onto and off boulders for huck opportunities.
Beyond the gnarly new double black, Loon offers a well-rounded trail network that caters to various skill levels. The recently completed Wheelhouse provides a blue square technical experience that blends natural terrain with machine-crafted flow, while the upcoming Crossbuck will add another intermediate option slated for mid-September. The loamy soil currently offers that sweet brown pow feel, though the exposed rock features will undoubtedly become more challenging as the trails wear in. At just $41 for a day ticket, Loon presents a radically more affordable option compared to other regional bike parks, making it an accessible destination for riders looking to experience steep descents and gnarly terrain in New Hampshire's White Mountains.
