Mountain Biking Liberty Reservior Trails

****   Add a review
#42 of 97 mountain bike trails in Maryland

Nice easy flow singletrack, many roots, not too bad and some rocks. Nice narrow edges that dip along the edge of the land near the water a few feet or so high. Great fun ride and nice scenery. Worth the trip if you're in the area

Getting there
Take Liberty Rd to Oakland Mills, and head North on Oakland Mills. Take a right at the second boat docks, you'll see a sign that says LIBERTY BOAT DOCK. Turn right and shortly to the left you'll see a fire road. Take that and follow it over and go exploring! There is also a 5-6 mile loop just south of Liberty road off Oakland Mills as well. There are multiple loops around the reservoir. I had little time to explore.

Rode April 3, 2017 and really enjoyed this trail. Suggested by locals and the bike shop, I started off in search of these trails to learn that there are multiple loops. I only rode 2. Good use of the area and great flow. Like the description, roots, rocks, and I really enjoyed the narrow edges out the outside of the island where you had a drop a few feet or so to the water. These parts were not only narrow, however were windy and had changes in elevation around trees, roots, and rocks. Made for neat passes. Great scenery and a nice ride. Only things is, there are some downed trees, however you can tell work is in progress. Check it out if you're in the area.
