Mountain Biking Laurel Creek Trail At Rimel Wv

I have to agree with most descriptions and ride suggestions I have found on this trail. Ride it counter clockwise and I think you'll agree with most the locals, it's much more fun this way. When you get to the trailhead there is a little bridge on the right ( in the counter clockwise direction ) and a trail to the left. Take the right across the bridge and just follow the well mark ( blue diamond ) trail and you will come back out at the trail sign. We did meet a local riding it in the opposite direction who actually ( first person to mention ) liked riding it in the opposite direction. If you like climbing, I would agree, or if you wanted to get more climbing for the 9 miles. However, my son and I liked it so much, we just did a second lap which was faster than our first, since we knew the trail a little better, and got 18 miles of awesome singletrack. What a blast. This is a must do if you are in the area. Don't forget to go down Rt.92 and ride Two Lick Trail just short distance away. Some say you can add a few road miles and ride them both without moving the vehicle. I'll let you make that decision.

Getting there
Take Rt.39 east from Marlinton, WV and not far after passing through Minnehaha Springs start watching on the left for a sign noting picnic area on your left (Rimel National Forest Recreation area). If you reach Rt.92 south intersection you just passed it. Park at the picnic area and look to the right of the map display and you will the the both ends of the trail.

    Lower creek crossings are numerous.
The Climb and long DH is well worth the effort.

Decent ride; agree with counterclockwise, last half mile is nice downhill; basically hiking trail; few roots and exposed rock; however, soil is soft so slow ride; this ride is about a wilderness experience; nice bridges except on far backside where you must make a few stream crossings; limited views, mainly in forest; I enjoyed it, but wouldn't go too far out of my way to ride it.
