Trail Description
About this trail
Starting from the parking area/area with the sign for the trail, The trail
starts off with a tough climb (which is a sweet descent at the end).
Continue straight on the old road bed, and hang a right onto the trail
(following the trail signs). The trail is descently marked, and at one point
you need to hang a right on FS 92A, and then a left back onto the trail.
Follow it all the way around and you will end up back on the old road grade,
and descending that gnarly climb you started. Some of the sections of this
trail are freaking sweet descents (with lots of opportunities for hangtime),
and others are crazy steep climbs. Pick up Jim Parham's "off the beaten
track" for reference if you would like, but I would recommend finding a FS
map somewhere.

Review: Very forgettable. Really just overgrown logging roads with lots of gravel forest service road interspersed. Signs are either very well hidden or not present, very easy to end up riding gravel roads all day and miss the few downhill spots. Not a fun ride, the only reason it's intermediate is the sharp climb/return descent right out of parking. Awesome potential in this area for a trail system but good bike trails are more than just old logging roads.

Review: I had a Friday afternoon, 11/7/14, and was in the area, so tried it out. Only got about 1.5 miles in and trail disappeared. Just not kept up. No indication anyone was riding it at all any time recently. Beautiful area, but trails aren't kept up. Don't recommend.

Review: I was not very impressed with the quality of the trail. The portion that I did ride was wide and somewhat boring. Trail marking was not very good and I had to dodge horse poop. I would like to return some day after some maintenance is done and trail markings are improved. I see lots of potential here.

Review: I rode here this past weekend (3/13) for the first time since 2009. Not much has changed on Ladyslipper.. but in retrospect, 4 stars was too high of a rating for this ride. There are a couple of fun descents, but overall this trail just isn't that much fun. I was going to go with 2 stars, but that was a bit too low... 2.5 would be about perfect. I'd recommend checking out the nearby Sourwood and Lake Russell trails instead.

Review: Awesome downhill with plenty of jumps. Deep forest feel with some great scenery. Raw trails and forest roads. Signage is in the works. Locals are super friendly. Appalachian Chattahoochee.

Review: All of the trails at Lake Russell Recreation Area including Ladyslipper are now being maintained by UC3 SORBA members. Our short term goal is to remove all deadfall and debris from trails, fix any drainage issues, and install trail signage where necessary. We have logged nearly 100 hours just since December 2012 and will have our first trail work day for 2013 on Feb 3rd @ 1:30PM. We will be meeting at the Nancytown Parking Lot. Please come ride and continue to give us feedback. We want to spread the word that these trails are on the mend and ready to ride.

Review: Sweet double/singletrack trail that can be VERY fast. Trails are mostly old logging roads that have reverted back to their natural state. Don't get confused when the trail dumps you into what looks like a cleared farmers field. Just ride straight through it and the trail picks up on the other side. The trail follows the gravel road for a little while and then heads back into the woods. If you need a map, check natgeomaps.com and look up trails illustrated map #778. Great when done in combination with Sourwood and Lake Russel Loop.

Review: I forgot to mention that the "singletrack" on this trail is not very single in most locations. The quality of the trail on the Lake Russell Loop and the Sourwood Trail is much better. However, there are some excellent gnarly spots and freaking fast downhills afforded by the Ladyslipper Loop!
