Mountain bikers are allowed on this walkway which was an old road. You'll enjoy the ride through lush native forest. It's easy and well graded for 6km when you'll want to turn back. Be sure to walk the side track - short, steep and narrow - to a stunning grove of kauri trees.

Getting there
Head south from Kaitaia on highway 1 for 3km, turn right into Larmer Road and follow it the the end. You'll see the track sign post.

    If you're in Kaitaia it's worth heading down to the Kaitaia Walkway for a spin under the canopy of this lush native forest.
