Mountain Biking Hummingbird

*****   Add a review
#76 of 1,005 mountain bike trails in California
#1,281 in the world

The Hummingbird Trail is best done as a shuttle if you’re riding a bike with a lot
of suspension, but it can easily be looped with some paved road.

To start, grunt your way up a steep mile, mile and a half climb on some wide,
somewhat technical, gated fire road (beginning of the fire road is the google maps
location given).

You can’t miss the turn for the Humming Bird Trail—just look for the massive
sign. Drop your seat and get ready to descend! Humming Bird is a super technical
descent with a couple of short ups thrown in. There are rocks a plenty, loose
corners, and even some sections of downhill slickrock!

At the bottom it dumps out onto Kuehner Drive, right off of the 118 Freeway,
and if you leave a shuttle car here you’re done. Or if you want to park at the
lowest point in the route and start with a paved climb, just leave your car here.
If, on the other hand, you left your car at higher up at the beginning of the trail,
ride south on Kuehner Drive to Santa Susana Pass Road, and climb up that back
to your car.
