Q: I'm looking to take my boys 9&11 to some easy trails. Where do we start? -Guest

A: Look for gentle rolling flowing trails. In Central Pa we have Swatera Park and Core Creek. Stay away from rocky descents and climbs. Learn basic bike skills and go from there

Review: Very nice place to ride a lot of different trails even get to see some wildlife in these trails clearly marked by the numbers and the Allegheny trail maps first time we've ever been here had a very good time recommend it to anybody

Review: We drove almost two hours to ride this trail series based on the four-star average rating. While it may be great for locals in the Pittsburgh area, we found it to be disappointing because we literally had to stop every half-mile to figure out which trail we were on and where we needed to go. We had a map but the trails were not marked well. On a positive note, sections 4, 3, 5 and 6, in that order, were the most fun as they had decent flow and multiple obstacles (e.g., rock gardens, large up & overs).

Review: A great, older trail system that you can get some decent miles in with connecting your favorite sections. Expect many roots and rocks and some features that make this place unique.

Review: Pros: Lots of log jumps, nice flowy down hill sections, some rocks.
Cons: mud especially on the side of the park next to the school.

Hartwood offers up numerous groups of short loops off the main through road. It takes several times to figure out what works best, but that makes this place great. You'll continuously find new trails. The purple trails and orange trails are a nice place to start. There are some rock gardens and few steep hills. A tighter, more technical ride than North Park.

Similar Trail: North Park

Review: I love the single track at Hartwood Acres, though some of the hills could use some more switchbacks.

My favorite way to start is #19, the roller coaster...start at the entry road, where the parking lot entrance is (red white and blue statues), then roll through this terrific trail.

Like most trails here, it is short, but it will take you on to #20 if you like, or #13 which is longer and in my opinion, better if you go back the other way, or go back and do it a few more times.

Two other good areas are #4 Hee Bee Jeebee as well as the #15, though #15 has been wet when other trails are dry.

Overall a great park to single track with plenty of options to ride a trail or two then hit your vehicle for a break before going back out.

Review: Great ride. Very nice single track. A little less hills than north park. Nice obstacles. Not a lot of rocks. Really enjoyed my 2nd trip there

Review: No bad. Nice s turns up and down hills seemed unique. A bit confusing. Still not as good as north park.
