Mountain Biking Hanna Flat

****   Add a review
#136 of 1,005 mountain bike trails in California
#1,959 in the world

Hannah Flat is a smooth, easy, but blazing fast singletrack descent from the
Hanna Flat Campground.

The actual singletrack is not nearly 8.4 miles, but ridden as a loop with some
gravel roads it comes out to about 8.4. Loop it with forest road 3N14 (see GPS
map provided).

Passing through some rock areas and hugging the sides of the mountain, Hanna
Flat is a very scenic trail and is very beginner and intermediate friendly. Lower
down the trail drops out onto a gravel road. Hang left and pick up the Grout Bay
Trail for the final descent to the lake.

Rider questions

Q: Visiting Big Bear for the first time with Mountain Bikes soon. How do you think this trail would be for a 9-year old who is used to riding fire roads and some very easy sections of singletrack? FWIW, we usually ride in the Pasadena/La Canada area. I ride El Prieto, Cherry Canyon, etc. My son is confident on the fire roads here and does well in the easy singletrack parts of Arroyo Secco (behind JPL) if that's any indication. Looking for something in Big Bear that he can handle, but not so easy as just bike path riding. Thanks.
A: yes, the first half mile is uphill, but then fun rolling after.
