Mountain Biking Four Gorge

****   Add a review
#112 of 300 mountain bike trails in Virginia
#4,122 in the world

Four Gorge is "down low" but still features a little climbing; I'd describe it as "rolling." This is a newer school IMBA trail with excellent bench cutting, grade reversals, and trail armoring. Excellent intermediate trail.

Pretty fun trail! There is a steep incline at first but the trail gets better from there! The full extension is full since it ends basically right at Tuck A Way trail for a sweet loop!

Some people refer to this as "Four Gorges" (with an S), which makes more sense to me. Nice trail. Intermediate.

Rider questions

Q: Is this the longest and best trail system at Smith Mountain? It's only 3 miles?
A: Four Gorge is the introduction trail to many of the 40 plus miles of trail in carvins cove reserve.

Q: Thanks! So more to the point it's not at Smith Mountain Lake at all is it?
A: No. It's in Roanoke county, not far from Smith Mountain Lake.
