Trail Description
About this trail
This trail is a tad unkempt but since the North Branch Trail was just connected, completed and opened, hopefully the increase in bike traffic will spill over into this potentially awesome singletrack area. There are several places to enter, the most bein a trailhead marked by two cement markers just to the left of the small brick maintenance building at the NE part of the "Picnic Grove #1". Second, if you take the paved trail around the corner toward the Forest Glen Ave. Bridge, you can jump on right there and ride along the river, up over the RR tracks all the way to the Ted Lechowicz Woods. The third enntrance is down the paved trail until you come to the big bridge over the RR and theres a trail entrance just to your right leading to a small "bowl" if that's what you could even call it. Definitely needs some work but for being literally the ONLY singletrack I could find in the area, it'll do!

Q: When will this open -Guest

A: Not sure when this was asked or if you're referring to the singletrack or the North Branch Trail but the singletrack is currently open and needs some work but makes for a good ride and the paved North Branch has been open for the last week and goes East to the Lake and Northwest all the way to Wisconsin, or so I've heard.

Review: Just moved to the area and decided to start updating a few of the local trails. These particular trails start just off the newly opened North Branch Trail, I entered just off the bridge. It's pretty easy to follow, although it definitely needs a trim, but I rode the trail all the way into the Ted Lechowicz woods. Overall it's nothing impressive but it earns a 4/5 from me because it's literally the ONLY singletrack within riding distance from my place. I contacted CAMBr and unfortunately the FPD rules the roost when it comes to trail building/maintenance in the area. Hopefully that will change with the increase in bike traffic, we'll see. Updated pics and hopefully a video to come.

Review: For being in the city this is a not a bad little section to ride - certainly more interesting than rails-to-trails paths. Some small hills to give your legs a good workout, a few jumps (nothing bigger than a few feet I don't think), and a small bowl (maybe 8 feet deep) to play in. Surprisingly not too much garbage/broken glass or that many hikers to watch out for. Definitely not the most technical trail but you will hit some fallen trees in the path, some sections with roots and tight turns as well. There are also some wooded areas that could easily be turned into trails/more jumps if some work was put into it. You could probably cover all the sections in about 20-30 mins if you rode a good pace but I think its best served to create your own loop(s) and then race yourself or a friend for practice.
