Mountain Biking Elk Meadow

***   Add a review
#934 of 1,412 mountain bike trails in Colorado
#11,091 in the world

This 2.4 mile trail winds through beautiful mixed conifer forest (with lots of aspen) and large meadows with nice views of Pikes Peak. The trail itself is generally smooth and is a dirt road. The surface is mostly loose scree, but it is not deep. It starts with a nice 0.85 mi descent and then from there has shorter moderate climbs and descents. On the ground it is signed as Trail #18, and it ends on the far east side of the park where it connects with Cheesman Ranch Trail (Trail 17) You can make a nice loop/route connecting Elk Meadow with Cheesman Ranch Trail (Trail 17) and Homestead Trail (Trail 12). As with many trails in MSP, this trail seems more suited for a gravel bike than a mountain bike.

There are a few fast descents and the climbs are easy to moderate.
