Mountain Biking Duncan Ridge

**   Add a review
#275 of 405 mountain bike trails in Georgia
#8,325 in the world

The ride is mostly old logging roads that follow the ridgeline of Duncan road. Nice views of the surrounding pastures to start out. Too bad most of this is on pavement. Then the next 15 miles finish you with a gradual climb through the old forest roads to the top of the ridge and you finish with about three miles of downhill riding back to your car.

Getting there
From Vogel State Park, head east on State Route 180 (Wolf Pen Gap Rd) for 3.5 miles until you get to the junction of Duncan Ridge Road.

Recommended ride taken from Jim Parham's OFF THE BEATEN TRACK NORTH GA:

Ride south, downhill, for 3.3 miles. You'll cross over Cooper creek near Lake Winifield Scott. Shortly after, you will take a right onto Cooper Creek Rd which will turn into gravel after a mile or so and will become FS 33. Stay on this road for 5.6 miles until you get to FS 33A. Head right onto FS 33A. You'll cross back over Cooper Creek shortly after getting on FS 33A. After 3.2 miles, bear right on Duncan Ridge Road at the junction of Duncan and FS 39. 0.4 miles from the junction of Duncan Ridge and FS 39, the road exits to the right. Stay to the left on the forest roads of Duncan Ridge. 7 miles and you are home.
