Trail Description
About this trail
Trails starts around 5000ft in the high dessert shrubbery. Trail is rather sandy singletrack. It climbs over 6 miles to Knob Point. The singletrack is very well built with benchcuts along the contour of the hills. Half way up you get into the Alpine terrain with pine trees and plenty of shade. After Knob Hill it contines for an additional 3 miles to Clear Creek Rd near Highway 50. All that climbing is worth it when you turn around and are able to go back down what you climbed. Singletrack is flowy, no techinical rocky sections on this one but very fun. Would be a great trail for beginners up to expert riders looking for a great ride. Stays pretty clear year round depending on the Sierra snow pack. Single track was built by the same builder as Ash Canyon trails in town.

Review: Really good trail. It is clear early in the season, much sooner than any of the tahoe trails, or other trails in the region, perhaps excepting those in Reno.
Flowy singletrack. Fun switchbacks. The same guy who built this trail also built the new (2015) Ash to Kings trail. You can see his handiwork. I prefer Clear Creek to A2K.

Review: Great climb up from the high dessert floor. Climbed roughly 1500ft. Typical Tahoe riding, sandy loamy dirt. Ride starts in high desert and goes into the Alpine terrain. Ride back down is very fast and flowy. No technical areas, however some steep drop offs on the side of the trail, can be intimidating to newbs.

Review: Nice review. Not to take anything away from the excellent trails in Carson City but the Clear Creek trail was built by the crew at the Carson Valley Trails Association (carsonvalleytrails.org for more beta on this and other local trails).
